We have improved in terms of technology – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC said that elections in Nigeria has improved greatly through the use of technology.
Prof. Rhoda Gumus who is the national commissioner and chairperson, planning and monitoring committee, disclosed this during the meeting with the Nigeria Society of Engineers NSE in Abuja.
He added  that technology had the tendency to deliver free, fair and credible polls.
She started  that the commission is embarking on systematically commencement of physical registration of voters in it’s states and local governments areas offices, after the consultation with stakeholders and security review situation across the country.
While indicating that  INEC commission would deepen the use of technology to improve elections in Nigeria.
Gumus said that technology, has brought a lot of transformation to Nigeria’s democracy.
“Recalling how the Smart Cards Reader revolutionised the conduct and credibility of the 2015 elections, and how the BVAS has eliminated malpractice in the elections process.
” Using technology to conduct elections in this modern days has made election more freer, more credible and more transparent, so therefore technology has come to stayed”.
Prof. Gumus reaffirmed that technological innovations has engendered confidence.
