The Chairman of the Local organizing committee agencies, Dr. Aregbesola Babatunde said the Vehicle Inspection office VIO is set for the national conference of Directors and Chiefs from FCT and 36 states of the federation.
He made the disclosure during a pre-conference media roundtable in Abuja. According to him, the conference is based on the theme “effective driver’s education and road traffic law enforcement, the panacea to a safer road in Nigeria”.
“The conference brings together all the chief executive officers of state road traffic officers in order to exchange ideas, improve on areas earlier realized to be requiring adjustments, and also review enforcement mechanisms in order to ensure compliance, adherence, and observation of rules that govern the roads, safety measures and general appraisal of public feedback in the discharge of duties by road traffic”.
He further reiterated the need for all citizens to take advantage of the annual conference to make safety and compliance a reality in driving.
“From the look of things, traffic violation, non-compliance with roadworthy provisions, violation of traffic rules as well as cutting corners in driving to live which has to do with going through the rigorous process of obtaining driver’s license are no longer taken seriously, hence the need for the routine annual conference where such important issues are discussed.”
Aregbesola used the opportunity to invite members of the press from both the print and broadcast to attend the conference in order to give it wider coverage as their roles in information dissemination cannot be underestimated.
The director of the FCT Directorate of road traffic services will also be in attendance as well as other top functionaries of FCTA.
