VIO Mayor commences traffic volunteerism in Abuja

The RTO /VIO mayors that recently came into existence in order to complement the efforts  of the vehicle inspection offices and officers in areas of traffic control and others were sighted at the international conference centre close to the Radio house controlling traffic when there was gridlock.
The Squadron leader for FCT and national coordinator was personally seen doing the needful.
“Many residents of the city centre were impressed with the outing as it was displayed with passion and civility without the usual gbu gba insult. The concept to bring this to the FCF by these professionals will go a long way to further change the perception of motorists towards volunteerism in traffic control. “
The FRSC has a special marshal but attitudes of some of them who are drawn from their various endeavour has been condemned. Taking example of how some of the FRSC marshals assaulted some trust  and liberty TV staffs at Kubwa recently who stopped to pick their colleagues also going to work.
The special Marshal  hurriedly arrested them for illegal parking and kabu kabu even after displaying their identity cards.
The occupants of the car were engaged in a scuffle by the FRSC special marshals against norms that binds the job. The coming of the RTO/VIO mayors strictly operating under road traffic is a welcome decision.
The FCT Minister Musa Muhammed need to embrace and support the fct mayors since traffic matters have formed his priority list going by how he sometimes move out to check and ensure that all is well on traffic control in the city. The fct Drts cannot do it alone as they have shortage of officers and personnel. The vio mayors can assist in no small way in area of observation of adherence to traffic light which has become a menace inthe city centre. The area one under the bridge,Berger bridge,Gwarinpa lifecamp bridge are also areas of concern.
