The Road traffic officer and Vehicle Inspection Officer mayors are set to induct qualified members and as well honour the Niger state Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Lolo, Emir of Kuje, Sarkin Bwari, AMAC Chairman and other notable Nigerians. In a statement released by the squadron leader fct and national coordinator, Dr Yusuf John Suberu he emphasized that the challenges of traffic enforcement and the violation has necessitated the capacitation and expansion of the mayors to meet challenges.
“There is no doubt that the FCT DRTS and other vehicle inspection offices across the federation are overwhelmed with responsibilities of ensuring that traffic rules are complied with, enforced and regulated hence the volunteerism in the road traffic and vehicle inspection circle.”
“The honour and induction aim to further promote volunteerism in the area of traffic since it is the business of every motorist. The RTO/VIO mayors which comprise professionals who believe in traffic management for effective motoring and transportation have been empowered through training to know how to control, enforce voluntarily and also document traffic violations for onward delivery to the authorised road traffic and vehicle inspection officers.”
“The road traffic is a residual matter devoid of Federal interference in view of why the Niger State governor is chosen as one of the recipients of our awards and honour to encourage his colleagues to take road traffic and vehicle inspection seriously. “
The two traditional rulers from the FCT are drawn as monarchs to be honoured because the traditional institution is key to the sensitization and enlightenment of the society. The FCT Commissioner of Police, Fct DRTS director, immigration controller, FRSC sector commander, NSCDC Fct commandant, fct DSS director and other top personalities are to grace the occasion also.
