The National Universities Commission has approved the Operations of Imo state university of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences.
The Executive Secretary of NUC, Professor Abubakar Rasheed said the new university will be recognised by all Regulatory agencies in the Education sector.
The Executive Secretary also commended the Imo state Governor for giving out free Education at University level to the indigenes.
In the same vein, he said the take off of the new University will bring about development to the state and the country at large.
“This is the second fully owned state university in the state and also the 49th public university in the country. We need to give them the necessary support”.
Rasheed disclosed that the regulatory commission is ready to give out instructions that will bring about Educational development in In the state.
“We welcome the promotion of educational achievement in the state. At the same time dish out advisory services to the new University “
“This is a tremendous achievement we on our side will complete due process”, he said.
Speaking at the event, the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha noted that the new university will be run as a public private partnership.
The Imo state Governmemt will build the infrastructure while the private sector will take over the management of the institution.
According to him, the need to build more universities arose due to the large number of students vying for admission in the state.
“Six Universities has been built during this administration
Imo state rank first in the number of candidates sitting for Jamb since 2012 to 2019.”
