The Executive Secretary of CS-SUNN , Mrs Beatrice Eluaka , is urging the Nassarawa state government to improve budgetary allocation to nutritional related issues and ensure prompt release of fund.
While calling on the state government to prioritise the nutrition of the citizen,as it is the only way of reducing malnutrition.
She made the disclosure at a media engagement to improve nutrition policy in Lafia.
The Executive Secretary of CSUNN also charged the media practitioners to keep advocating about nutrition so that it will be at the front burner.
“We want you to keep educating the public on nutritional issues and getting policy makers to do the needful towards tackling malnutrition .
Government need to improve the nutrition of the children so as to enable them to perform better”
According to her, the nutritional intake of the children have a way of affecting the mental capacity.
The Nasarawa State Coordinator of CS- SUNN , Mercy Asso , charged all Nigerians to place high importance on nutritional issues.
“Malnutrition is responsible for most of the childhood death in the state .
Last year some children lost their lives as a result of acute malnutrition in the state.
We must all work together to improve the nutritional status of the citizens”
While speaking , the Communication Officer of CS- SUNN , Mrs Lilian Ajahmong , stressed the need for the state government to increase the maternity leave of mothers.
Increasing the maternity leave will allow the mothers to practise Exclusive breastfeeding, she added.
