2019 Elections :Politician set agenda for Education

As the 2019 Elections is approaching, Experts in the Education sector has called on Politicians to set agenda in terms of improving access to quality Education in the country.
While noting that Education is a critical channel to meet the Sustainable development goals.
Education Consultant, Dr Dayo Ogundimu made the disclosure at a media dialogue with online bloggers in Kano state .
He explained that the issue of equitable access to Education is important so as to meet up with Global standard.
“The Education curriculum need to be updated on a day to day basis.
It is a lifelong process, and new innovations need to brought up to change the narrative”
The Education Consultant said the sector has been backward du .e to the lack of political will by the leaders in the country.
“Research findings reveal that access to Education by millions of Nigerians children remains hindered due to lack of political will, bad planning and poor infrastructure ”
Dr Ogundimu noted that the level of malpractices during examination is hindering the development of the Education sector.
“The level of cheating at both the primary and secondary level is not encouraging. There is need to bridge the gap in ending the menace in the society ”

UNICEF Communication Specialist, Mr Geoffrey Njoku also charged journalist to improve the reportage of access to Education for children in Nigeria.
According to him, the politicians should include Education as one of the agenda that will be addressed, while giving their manifesto.
In the same vein, he charged journalist to always utilize the online medium to advocate for Girls education in the Northern part of the country.
“We need to utilize communication skill to mobilise support for the right of children in terms of Education”
“Online media practitioners play a crucial role in setting Agenda. We want the issue of children Education to be paramount while reporting news”
